VISION 2020 PROCESS REVEALS SUPPORT FOR REGIONAL COLLABORATION
Input collected from 10 counties suggests strong regional collaboration will be necessary to increase the per capita income of Northeast Indiana, which has declined from 95 percent of the national average in the mid-1990s to 80.5 percent in 2007. more

Defense Department Boosts Raytheon Contract
The U.S. Department of Defense has increased a contract with Raytheon Company's Fort Wayne facility. The modification boosts the deal from $53.6 million to as much as $61.1 million. The Fort Wayne facility is providing radio systems to the U.S. Special Operations Command. more 

ITT lauds 500,000th Army radio 
ITT Electronic Systems said Wednesday that its Communications Systems business delivered its 500,000th Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System to the U.S. Army.

Study Shows Growth in Indiana's Tech Sector
A new study from the TechAmerica Foundation shows Indiana remains 23rd among states when it comes to tech sector employment. The Cyberstates 2010 report says in 2008, Indiana had 73,700 workers in the high-tech industry with a total payroll of $4.5 billion. more  

NoMoreClipboard Forms New Partnership
NoMoreClipboard in Fort Wayne is integrating its portals with Texas-based Sevocity's EHR systems, enabling physician practices and patients to exchange electronic health information. Both companies say they for personal health records being portable.

Medical Informatics Engineering Announces Electronic Health Records Deal 
Fort Wayne-based Medical Informatics Engineering has struck a deal to bring electronic health records to a national health care company. Concentra says it has been utilizing MIE technology in five of its locations with further implementation expected this year.

Conexus Indiana is hoping a new website and social media network will help convince more young Hoosiers to pursue logistics and advanced manufacturing careers. Conexus has unveiled DreamItDoItIndiana.com, which it considers the centerpiece of its "Dream It. Do It." campaign.

Questa Foundation Investing $500,000 in High-Tech Training
Allen County-based Questa Foundation for Education says it will invest more than $500,000 from its Questa Scholars 1/2 Back Loan program to aid college students who pursue careers in advanced manufacturing and engineering. The investment includes a new collaboration with the Talent Initiative, a program designed to accelerate the training and retention of advanced manufacturing and defense/aerospace employees in northeast Indiana.

Ivy Tech Community College is introducing new in-demand work force education programs online. Project Management, Green and Lean Supply Chain Management, Sales and Internet Marketing courses will be offered and help prepare students for career-building certifications.

New Master's Degree Available at Manchester
Manchester College will offer a Master of Education degree beginning this fall. The new program focuses on building better teachers and enhancing their license for versatility and marketability in school districts dealing with shrinking budgets. Manchester College says it is working closely with Indiana Education Service Centers to make the degree relevant and convenient.

Trine to Offer New Biomedical Degree
Trine University says it will use a new gift to help launch a new master of biomedical engineering degree. The gift from Tri-State University alumnus and Trine University trustee James Bock will help remodel a campus building to meet the needs of the new degree, which is expected to be approved by the Higher Learning Commission this spring.

Ivy Tech to Offer Statewide Robotics Workshops
Ivy Tech Community College will host a free workshop for Indiana high school teachers wishing to start a new robotics program at their schools. The Robotics Educator will be taught in eight regional sessions throughout the summer at Ivy Tech campuses.

Hoosier Business Investment Tax Credit (HBITC)
The Hoosier Business Investment Tax Credit  (HBITC) program was established to encourage capital investment in Indiana by providing a credit against a company's Indiana tax liability. The credit amount is based on a company's qualified capital investment with the final credit amount determined by the IEDC based on an analysis of the economic benefits of the proposed investment. more

County Updates

ADAMS
FCC (Adams) LLC, an automotive supply company, plans to invest $7.5 million in an expansion project that will add 35,000 square feet and close to $5 million in new equipment meanwhile asking Berne City Council to prepare the way for a new tax abatement. Berne City Council approved a resolution to establish an Economic Revitalization area that will allow the abatement process to proceed.  The next step is a public hearing at the Berne City Council meeting.

DEKALB
The DeKalb County Economic Development Partnership (DCEDP) has announced its selection of Ken McCrory as its new executive director. McCrory will officially take over for Galen Eberhart on June 10. more 

WHITLEY
With another proposal headed to the Whitley County Board of Zoning Appeals for a tower to test wind speed and consistency in the southwest part of the county, the time has come for county officials to consider their role in the regulation of any potential wind farms in the county. At least one wind power company has targeted southwest Whitley County for study to see if development of a wind farm would be worthwhile.
