DEFENSE INDUSTRY Defense Department Boosts Raytheon Contract The U.S. Department of Defense has increased a contract with Raytheon Company's Fort Wayne facility. The modification boosts the deal from $53.6 million to as much as $61.1 million. The Fort Wayne facility is providing radio systems to the U.S. Special Operations Command. more

TECHNOLOGY Study Shows Growth in Indiana's Tech Sector A new study from the TechAmerica Foundation shows Indiana remains 23rd among states when it comes to tech sector employment. The Cyberstates 2010 report says in 2008, Indiana had 73,700 workers in the high-tech industry with a total payroll of $4.5 billion. more

Questa Foundation Investing $500,000 in High-Tech Training Allen County-based Questa Foundation for Education says it will invest more than $500,000 from its Questa Scholars 1/2 Back Loan program to aid college students who pursue careers in advanced manufacturing and engineering. The investment includes a new collaboration with the Talent Initiative, a program designed to accelerate the training and retention of advanced manufacturing and defense/aerospace employees in northeast Indiana. more

Trine to Offer New Biomedical Degree Trine University says it will use a new gift to help launch a new master of biomedical engineering degree. The gift from Tri-State University alumnus and Trine University trustee James Bock will help remodel a campus building to meet the needs of the new degree, which is expected to be approved by the Higher Learning Commission this spring. more
