Huntington University Nursing Program Open to Students Many Indiana nursing programs are rejecting qualified students due to a faculty shortage, the Associated Press recently reported. But that is not the case with the Huntington University Department of Nursing, which has a growing program open to applicants. more
Ball State, Ivy Tech Announce Educator Transfer Agreement Ivy Tech Community College and Ball State University have created a statewide transfer agreement for students pursuing a teaching career. Ivy Tech students will be able to transfer credits toward a Ball State bachelor's degree in elementary education. The announcement follows a similar agreement between the institutions' criminal justice programs. more
Sweetwater, IPFW Announce Music Tech Program Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne and Fort Wayne-based Sweetwater Inc. have announced a new Music Technology Program. IPFW says students will receive a Bachelor of Science in Music with a specialty in Music Technology. The curriculum is still being developed, but should be ready for the fall. more
Ivy Tech, IPIC Land $10 Million Federal Job Training Grants The U.S. Department of Labor will award nearly $10 million in job training grants to Ivy Tech Community College and the Indianapolis Private Industry Council (IPIC). Ivy Tech will use its $5 million portion to implement a statewide project to train workers for careers in advanced manufacturing, transportation and information technology sectors. IPIC will receive $4.8 million to elevate current health care workers into the most critical-to-fill occupations in the region's hospital industry. more
New Tech High Schools New Tech High School, founded by the New Tech Network, is an increasingly growing education program that has established itself in Northeast Indiana. New Tech High Schools combine technology with group oriented curriculum to more accurately prepare students for 21st Century jobs. Fort Wayne to Myrtle Beach Flights to Begin This Spring Allegiant Air has announced non-stop flights between Fort Wayne International Airport and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The low-cost airline says the new service will begin April 30, with two flights a week. Fort Wayne Airports Executive Director Tory Richardson says Myrtle Beach is among the most requested destinations by area residents. more
Fort Wayne International will get Minneapolis route Delta Air Lines will begin offering seasonal, daily nonstop service between Fort Wayne International Airport and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport beginning April 6. more

Energy Efficiency Grants to be Offered The Indiana Office of Energy Development is launching a new energy efficiency grant program next month. The initiative will make $4.5 million in funding available to Indiana Small businesses, health care facilities, institutions of higher education and nonprofit agencies. The program will make grants of up to $100,000 for any energy efficiency retrofit project available with a 50 percent local match. more

ADAMS
Adams County will be getting a rail bridge replaced over the St. Mary's
River. The process of replacing the bridge will take no longer
than 7-10 days and the old bridge will be used as a part of the South
Adams Trails project. more
ALLEN
Fort Wayne's historic West Central Neighborhood has earned a new
distinction. It was named by This Old House magazine and Web site as
the Best Old House Neighborhood 2010 for the entire state of Indiana.
This Old House ranked West Central high in categories including
bargains; cottages and bungalows; Victorians; and walkability. The
magazine and Web site honor one neighborhood in each state with the
distinction each year. more
Heritage Food Service Equipment has
announced that it will expand its Fort Wayne facility located at 5130
Executive Boulevard. The company will invest $1.5 million and add 150
new positions. Heritage Food Service currently has 203 workers at its
Fort Wayne location. The project is scheduled for completion in 2013. more
Despite a difficult economy, Fort Wayne
and the surrounding region can succeed by working together, Mayor Tom
Henry said during his third State of the City address. Speaking to
about 160 people at the Rhinehart Recital Hall at Indiana
University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, the mayor offered an overview
of past accomplishments and future goals. more
DEKALB
At a new awards breakfast, cosponsored by the Auburn Butler Chamber
Partnership and the DeKalb County Economic Development Partnership, 25
businesses that opened or grew last year were honored. About 100 people
attended the first-time event in the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile
Museum.
LAGRANGE
The
LaGrange County Council, through a consensus vote, granted preliminary
approval of tax abatements for the proposed wind farm in development by
Pioneer Wind Energy, LLC. The preliminary approval requested by Pioneer
Wind Energy, LLC and the LaGrange County Economic Development
Corporation, was approved unanimously. more
NOBLE
City Council authorized Mayor Suzanne Handshoe to seek a $455,000 state
grant for a company planning to expand in Kendallville and add 65
full-time jobs to its workforce. more
These funds, from the federal Community Development Block Grant
(CDBG) program, were dedicated to Indiana after several natural
disasters caused damage in many areas across the state during 2008. more
A company announced it plans to add 65 skilled jobs paying an
average of $14 an hour to its Kendallville plant operations. Noble
Paint Co. owns the building and operates the former Budd Company paint
line and an injection molding department in the 319,000-square-foot
building on Marion Drive. more
WELLS
The Bluffton Common Council approved a 10-year Tax Abatement for The
Fabri-Form Company on a proposed investment of $500,000 in additional
equipment. Pending the approval of State Incentives, the proposal will
result in the creation of 6 new jobs in the Bluffton facility. more

addressed those gathered for the Noble County Economic Development
Corp.'s annual meeting in Kendallville. When it comes to keeping jobs
