Recreation and Culture

From philharmonic orchestras to the annual Johnny Appleseed festival, the Northeast Indiana region serves up a wide variety of cultural performances, festivals, museums, and the arts, as well as access to some of the best collegiate and minor league sporting events. In addition, Northeast Indiana is home to many lakes, from one of Indiana's largest lakes, Lake James in Steuben County to peaceful canoing in Chain-O-Lakes.

The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, one of the nation's top zoos, calls Fort Wayne its home. International performing stars such as the Eagles, Blue Man Group, or Alan Jackson can be seen at northeast Indiana venues such as the Memorial Coliseum.

Let's not forget about fairs and festivals. We celebrate with Germanfest, Johnny Appleseed Festival, the Three Rivers Festival, the Auburn Cord Duesenburg Festival, the Popcorn Festival, Ribfest, Heritage Days, and the list could continue. Keep your calendar handy and check out one of the many web sites prepared to keep you hopping, such as the Heartland Art, Entertainment and Recreation web page.
