Indiana Airports to Share More Than $5 Million

The Federal Aviation Administration is providing seven airports across the state with more than $5.1 million in grants for use in projects that will enhance the safety and capacity at the facilities. The projects include $1.4 million for apron expansion at the Indianapolis Executive Airport, $1.3 million to expand the terminal building at South Bend Regional Airport and $1.2 to rehabilitate the taxiway at Wabash Municipal Airport.

Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Sen. Dick Lugar was notified today that the Federal Aviation Administration awarded grants to seven Hoosier airports totaling $5,136,252. These funds will be used for a variety of projects that will enhance the safety and capacity at air facilities throughout Indiana.

"This is good news for Indiana airports," Lugar said. "I commend the officials for their work. Airport improvements are important in our combined effort to strengthen Hoosier communities."
