New Haven Continues to See Economic Growth

New Haven, Ind.
(March 31, 2010) - Lutheran Health Network has announced that it will locate a medical office building in New Haven. The new site will be at 1302 Minnich Road, which was formerly home to a Scott's grocery store. The equivalent of 16 full-time employees will work at the medical plaza when it opens, with more expected in the future. The total project investment is approximately $1.9 million. Site work is slated to be completed in August.

This development follows a previously announced New Haven expansion by Central States Enterprises, which will invest $3.3 million to build a new concrete grain storage silo. That project is also scheduled to be completed this year.

"The news of Lutheran Health Network's expansion in New Haven following another multi-million dollar project announcement reinforces the positive growth that is occurring in our community," stated Mayor Terry McDonald. "Their presence will have an immediate impact on the local economy and will aid in attracting interest to the area."

Investment at the medical plaza includes $1.5 million in real estate improvements and $400,000 in information technology equipment. Lutheran Health Network will lease the building from JKBC Properties, LLC. Both parties expect the project to be a catalyst for more investment at the location.

The New Haven City council approved a tax abatement for the project at its March 22 meeting. That decision will allow taxes on the project to be phased in over time. An estimated $144,000 in real and personal property savings are expected through the abatement.

"Lutheran Health Network's expansion is providing opportunity for those in Allen County to obtain high-quality positions," stated Nelson Peters, Allen County Commissioner. "The growth that is occurring in New Haven is very exciting and will have a tremendous effect on the local economy."
