Several Fort Wayne Organizations Receive Gifts

A private charitable foundation in Fort Wayne is providing a financial boost to 14 local organizations. The Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation is giving a total of $168,000. The Aboite New Trails and the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne are each receiving $25,000.

Local Organizations Receive Funding
On March 5, 2010, the Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation, a private charitable foundation, made gifts to 14 local organizations. Organizations and gifts:

1. Aboite New Trails, creation of trails to connect regional trail system, $25,000
2. American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana, support for Disaster Services, $10,000
3. Audiences Unlimited, support for cultural resources programs for residents in long-term care facilities, $10,000
4. Community Harvest Food Bank, general support for Food Bank, $10,000
5. Community Transportation Network, program support for medical transportation, $10,000
6. Early Childhood Alliance, program support for summer sibling program, $10,000
7. Fort Wayne Youtheatre, support for administration and production of youth plays, $10,000
8. Healthier Moms and Babies, operating support for perinatal outreach project, $10,000
9. Interfaith Hospitality Network, operating support for homeless shelters, $10,000
10. Kate's Kart, program support to bring books to hospitalized children, $8,000
11. Rescue Ministries, expand Charis House, a homeless shelter for families & women, $10,000
12. Super Shot, program support for 29 monthly immunization clinics, $10,000
13. The Literacy Alliance, program support for five adult learning centers, $10,000
14. YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne, Renaissance Pointe Arts & Humanities Wing, $25,000

Additional information about the Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation

The Auer Foundation is scheduled to be in existence until 2022 but will continue to impact the Fort Wayne community through endowments and scholarships. Grant selections are based on Ione Auer's past giving interests and her planning documents and from knowledge of her community involvement. The co-trustees for the Auer Foundation are David Meyer, of Monarch Capital Management, and Lake City Bank.

Additional organizations may also receive funding by submitting concept letters to the Auer Foundation. The Auer Foundation assets will be donated to accomplish and aid general charitable purposes to benefit the Fort Wayne community. In general, the interests of the Auer Foundation include music, arts, education, parks, and other charitable purposes.
